Being Chief Executive and Head of the Paid Service isn’t easy, but who wants easy? This is a job that makes a difference to hundreds of thousands of people. You will lead on change and transformation and will ensure that services are the best they can be, balancing this with the delivery of the Council's four year financial plan.
Commercially and socially astute, you will collaborate locally with a range of partners, sub regionally on several Black Country bodies and regionally across the West Midlands and the Combined Authority. Your partnership skills will need to be well honed, your intellectual rigour and political nous well proven. Delivering services to meet the needs of the people will always be the focus but you will have the opportunity for innovation too.
Executive Director – Children and Young People
Children and young people continue to be our priority and we have come a long way in a short time. We have invested heavily in our services and have made a firm commitment to protect caseloads, develop effective teams and work towards the delivery of the highest quality services. As a result we have seen year on year improvements most notably in education, where 83% of our schools are judged to be good or better – with a focus on special educational needs. You will be tasked with continuing the improvement journey and will lead corporately on integration and transformation.
For both of these key leadership roles, we are looking for the drive and vision to match our ambition for a bright and sustainable future for the borough.
